Meet Elizabeth
Elizabeth [she, her, hers] is a creative and cat-eye glasses queen. With an affinity for shiny things and rich colors, she is a visual artist who works in acrylic paints, collage, and glitter. She is also a social worker and racial equity facilitator who creates spaces for reflection to support groups in their healing. Elizabeth believes the magic in creating the world we want is through the healing alchemy of our relationships.
In the Pursuit of Release is my journey as an artist exploring what it means to release perfectionism through creative play. The past few years I have been actively pursuing joy and pleasure. I have been able to access these through travel, friendship, and meaningful experiences but in my art it has been more elusive to capture. The thread of my creativity was both wound tightly inside of me and a knotted mess with no beginning or end. I did not know how to release this relationship with my art. During the pandemic I was able to face this more intentionally. I simply was no longer interested in having this relationship with my art (with myself). And with this I was able to find the end of the thread and begin to unravel what no longer served me. In the Pursuit of Release is allowing the audience into witnessing my creative play.
